Tak- Dzong

Trongsa Ta-Dzong, also known as the Tower of Trongsa, is a historic watchtower in Bhutan that once guarded Trongsa Dzong against internal rebellion. Built in 1652 by Chogyal Minjur Tempa, the first Governor of Trongsa, it stands on a promontory above the town2. The structure features four observation points, each symbolizing a Tiger, Lion, Garuda, and Dragon2.

Today, Ta-Dzong has been transformed into a state-of-the-art museum with eleven galleries, showcasing Bhutanese artifacts, religious relics, and historical treasures. It provides visitors with insights into Bhutan’s rich history, including exhibits on King Gesar of Ling, the Raven Crown, and sacred dances. The museum was developed with technical and financial support from Austria.
